Nathalie Flintrop

About

Nathalie Flintrop (2000) is a young Belgian-Dutch cellist who started playing the cello at the age of 7. In 2018 she started her bachelor studies in Amsterdam with Michael Stirling. Since 2021, Nathalie has been studying with Pieter Wispelwey, finishing her Master studies in 2024.

Nathalie is part of the collective Pynarello and regularly works as a substitute with Ragazze Quartet and Cello Octet Amsterdam, with whom she performed in Poland as well. She has worked with artists like Katharina Gross, Nicolas van Poucke, Maya Fridman, Pieter Wispelwey, Garth Knox, Daniel Rowland, Arnold Marinissen, Ria Marks and dance collectives OFFprojects and LeineRoebana. Within the pop scene she has done projects with artists like Pommelien Thijs, Froukje, Whitney and S10.
In March 2024, the third edition of the Noordwijk Chamber Music Festival took place, of which Nathalie is co-founder, producer, marketing manager, chamber musician and teacher.

Nathalie has had masterclasses and lessons with Jean Guihen-Queyras, Reinhard Latzko, Gary Hoffman, Dmitri Ferschtman, David Cohen, Jérôme Pernoo, Michel Strauss, Pieter Wispelwey, Olsi Leka, Maarten Mostert and Justus Grimm.

In the Amsterdam Cello Biënnale 2022, together with Katharina Gross and the Creative Performance Lab class of the Conservatory of Amsterdam, she played as a soloist in a new interdisciplinary performance, premiering two of her own compositions. Nathalie has also performed concerts as a soloist with Vivarte Chamber Orchestra and Arenberg Orchestra.

In 2017, she was a member of DeZesLesSix, the youth panel of the VRT (Flemish Radio and Television Broadcasting studio) at the Queen Elisabeth Competition for cello. In 2022 she returned to the competition as a VRT tv guest, to discuss with Katelijne Boon some of the participants in the semi-finals. She has also performed on Belgian tv shows Van Gils en Gasten (2017) and Iedereen Beroemd (2017).

Nathalie was principal cellist of the Euregio Youth Orchestra, winner of the Dutch National Concours for Youth Symphony Orchestras in 2018, and has been a member of the Dutch National Youth Orchestra (NJO).

Thanks to the Dutch National Music Instrument Foundation (NMF), Nathalie is currently playing a modern cello (2014) by Gudrun Kremeier.
